Backflow Preventer Repair

When an RP, DC, or PVB device fails its annual test, the clock starts on getting it back into service before the water purveyor issues a non-compliance notice. We diagnose the failure on site and repair most devices the same visit.

What a Failed Test Usually Means

A failed annual test almost always traces back to a worn seat, a fouled check assembly, or a relief valve that will not hold pressure. Debris, mineral buildup, and normal wear on internal components are the most common causes, and they affect reduced pressure (RP), double check (DC), and pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) assemblies differently.

Our testers document the exact failure mode on the test report, so the repair addresses the actual problem rather than guessing at it.

REPAIR SCOPE

What Our Backflow Repair Service Covers

Seat & Check Module Replacement

Worn seats, discs, and check modules are replaced with manufacturer-matched parts to restore proper closure.

Relief Valve Rebuild (RP)

Relief valves on reduced pressure assemblies are rebuilt or replaced when they will not hold pressure.

Air Inlet & Poppet Repair (PVB)

Pressure vacuum breaker air inlets and poppets are repaired to restore a proper seal.

Rebuild Kits for Older Models

We carry or source full rebuild kits for older and discontinued device models rather than defaulting straight to replacement.

Before & After Diagnostics

Pressure and leak diagnostics before and after the repair confirm the fix holds before we leave the site.

Same-Visit Retest & Filing

Once the device passes, results are submitted directly to the water purveyor with a copy provided for your records.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can most devices really be repaired the same visit?

Yes. Our trucks carry common rebuild kits for the device sizes and brands used throughout our service area, so most repairs and the required retest happen in one visit.

What does a backflow repair cost?

Cost depends on the device type and the parts needed. Call (858) 523-8113 with your test report and we will quote the repair before any work begins.

What if the device cannot be repaired?

If a device is damaged beyond repair, we tell you plainly and quote a replacement rather than charging for parts that will not hold.

Do you submit the passing retest to our water purveyor?

Yes. Once the repaired device passes, we submit the results directly to the purveyor of record and give you a copy for your files.
